Division of Aquatic Biotechnology and Genomics

The division was established in May 2012,the laboratory of Aquatic Biotechnology and Genomics has undertaken a number of research projects including National Basic Research Program of China, National High Technology Research and Development Program, Special Fund for Argo-scientific Research in the Public Interest and so on. The lab has published 3 monographs and over 300 research papers, including one in Nature Genetics and one in Genome Research respectively. The lab has won 2 second prizes of State Technological Invention Award and 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.

The lab has completed drawing the whole genome fine maps of half-smooth tongue sole and Japanese flounder, and contributed to revealing the sex chromosome evolution and benthic adaptation mechanism. The lab has developed the high-ratio female breeding technology for half-smooth tongue sole and cultivated the first breed of high yield and disease resistant “Ping You No. 1” Japanese flounder. In addition, the lab has constructed 18 sperm banks for fish species, and established 23 marine fish cell lines.
